Paromita Vohra is an Indian filmmaker, writer, director, actor, curator, and teacher. Vohra lives in Mumbai. She has a degree in Mass Communication from Miranda House at the University of Delhi. After that, she went to Sophia Polytechnic, Mumbai, where she earned a degree in Social Communication Media. Her works mainly focus on gender, feminism, popular culture, documentary, fiction, and many more. She is the founder cum creative director at the Agents of Ishq, which is a multi-media digital project about sex education and sexual culture in India.
In its seven years of existence, this company has reached over 24 million people online and has been showcased as one of 10 global sexuality projects of excellence by UNESCO. She is also the founder, filmmaker, and writer at Parodevi Pictures Pvt. Ltd. Being an excellent director, Vohra has directed several outstanding films, some of which are Annapurna: Goddess of Food (1995), A Woman’s Place (1999), A Short Film About Time (2000), Unlimited Girls (2002), Work In Progress(2004), Partners In Crime(2021) and many as such. She was the writer for 3 films on Ethnic Conflict which were a collection of three short fiction films as well as the script consultant for The House on Gulmohar Avenue directed by Samina Mishra and Toda Stories directed by Anjali Punjabi. Apart from films, Vohra has also contributed to music videos as she was the director of several music videos like Main Aur Meri Body (2016), Love in the Garder of Consent (2018), Aika to the Baika (2020), The Amorous Adventures of shaku and Megha in the valley of consent(2016).
Being so talented, Vohra won several awards For instance she won the award for best screenplay, at the Kara Film Festival for the film Khamosh Pani, and she also won the award for best experimental documentary at the Digital Film Festival for Cosmopolis: Two Tales of a city, she won the best documentary, at Ladakh film festival and special jury mention, SIGNS for the film Partners in Crime. She also won the best campaign video, Ladli gender, and media awards for Aika to the Baika. She was also awarded the best short documentary, IVF, Kerala for morality tv, and the Loving Jehad.
