Ameera Shah (born on September 24, 1979) is an Indian entrepreneur and managing director of Metropolis Healthcare, a multinational chain of pathology centers based in Mumbai, and is present in seven countries. She is the daughter of Dr. Sushil Shah, founder, and chairman of Metropolis Healthcare, and Dr. Duru Shah, Obstetrician, and Gynaecologist. Her sister, Appalna Shah, is a geneticist. She was named the 2015 Young World Leader by the World Economic Forum. She was listed by Fortune India in "The Strongest Women in Business" in 2017, 2018, and 2019. Shah has been added to Forbes India's 2018 Tycoon of Tomorrow list. She studied commercial science at H.R.'s junior college. She holds a degree in finance from the University of Texas in Austin.
She worked at Goldman Sachs in New York. She later completed her degree in Owner-President Management Program from Harvard Business School. Ameera is an industry spokesperson and rendered speeches at various national and international forums, industry events, and conclaves. She has spoken at events hosted by the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad, Harvard Business School, TED, and CII.
In 2001 she took over her father's Metropolis Lab. Later, she changed it to a single diagnostic lab. In April 2019, her company was listed on the stock exchange. In 2017, Shah founded Empoweress, a non-profit initiative for female-owned businesses seeking advice, mentoring, and micro-funding.
