He became the centre of attention, when Iraq had been invaded and when a place near Baghdad was fired all night using air missiles. This man got focused worldwide through the media, because of his severe injuries during the attack.

Ali’s family got lost during the invasion when a couple of American missiles struck his family’s habitat. He had a huge family comprised of his parents, his brother, and thirteen more members, where all had been killed. His youngest sibling who did not even embrace the atmosphere of the Earth, still in his mother’s womb, was murdered, without getting to open his eyes in this World. Ali also got injured severely in the attack, and he had to undergo surgical operations where he got his arms cleaved, and almost 35% of his body had been subjected to burns. Just at the age of 12, little Ali had to go through several gut-wrenching treatments. Initially, he was being cured at Kuwait but later for further surgeries and treatments he had been taken to London.

Little Abbas could not put his arms to work, to him, his arms seemed to be heavy, and no fruitful work could be done using it. He did transplant artificial limbs to look physically normal, so that he doesn’t become the centre of attraction for having lost arms, among his schoolmates. Ali went to the Hall School Wimbledon, to gather literacy.

Ali had been offered the citizenship of the Great Britain, which was called officially on 1st January 2010. Before this Great Britain offer, he was also offered the citizenship of Canada and the United States, which he refused to accept because they denied citizenship to his friend, whom he wanted to take along.

Ali survived the deadly invasion, which brought him into the news and he gathered a lot of attention from the field of media and journalism, he was captured by several news channels and also occupied the pages of several magazines. In 2004, Jane Warren, penned down Ali’s history in the form of a book titled as 'The Ali Abbas Story', published by Harper Collins. His interview had been printed on the pages of Time Magazine, in the 2011 edition. He also appeared on 60 minutes, an American news magazine television programme, on May 16, 2007.

Ali along with a 14-year old boy, who got his right leg and left hand cleaved had been under the parenthood of LA (Limbless Association), who took upon the responsibility of their upbringings and also funded their survival, till they attained adulthood.
