Mahadeb Shi is a filmmaker, editor, director, cinematographer, sound designer, and writer who grew up in Serampore, West Bengal. He graduated from FTII, Pune in 1985 with a degree in Filmmaking. He often conducts his workshops in editing at FTII. He has worked as an editor for various TV channels. He is the co-founder of Tramjatra, a moving carnival celebrating tram transport, and is the Secretary of the Calcutta Tram Users Association (CTUA). His renowned works are Chitra Nodir Pare (1999), A Journey Extraordinary (2012), Lalon (2004), Rupsha Nodir Banke (2020), Endnote (2006), and Melbourne Kolkata-20th Anniversary Friendship (2017) –TV short documentary.
