Varun Khanna

Varun Khanna is an Indian director, filmmaker, and actor. He took his high school education at Shree Guru Harikrishan School, Chandigarh (2008 – 2010). After that, he finished his Bachelor’s degree in TV & Film Production at Punjabi University (2010 – 2014). He earned the Best Volunteer Award at the Delhi Commonwealth Games 2010. He also received first prize in the Street Play Competition, second prize in Skit, and second prize in the Radio Programming Competition in Soch 2011 (Media Festival) organized by the School of Communication, PUP, Chandigarh.

As being filmmaker, Varun Khanna started his journey in 2014. Initially, he worked under the renowned production house Red Chillies Entertainment. He worked as an intern & assistant director for their various projects for almost two years between 2011 to 2013. His projects include Super Star Santa – UTV Stars, Laila (Pilot) – Star Network, B-Blunt – TLC (Discovery), Coke Studio-2 – MTV, Indian Inside Television (Documentary) – Discovery, and others. He worked with Liquid Red Studios Pvt. Ltd. (Punjab) as casting director & assistant chief director in the Hindi Bollywood film “Zehraab” in 2012. Varun Khanna also worked with Angad Entertainment in Mumbai as the first assistant director in the Punjabi Pollywood film”Aashiq Patthey” in 2013.

 As an assistant director, Varun Khanna worked with Rising Sun Pictures titled "Running Shaadi Com" on a freelance basis for three months (Nov 2014 – Jan 2015). Later, he worked as chief assistant director in an international film titled "Xuan Zang” for three months (Aug 2015 – Oct 2015). The movie Xuan Zang received the Best Co-production Film Award, Best Director Award, Best Production Design Award, Best Cinematography Award, and Best Actor at the Golden Screen Awards. As an associate director & first assistant director, he worked with various production houses for more than three hundred television commercials and channel launch promos for Star Network for over two years (March 2015 – Nov 2017). He worked with production houses such as Star TV Network (Mar 2015 – Nov 2017) and Sony Pictures Networks India (Apr 2018 – Mar 2020). As an associate director & associate producer, Varun Khanna worked for the international web channel "HOOQ" web series titled "Bhak,” streaming on Hot Star & HOOQ under Big 3 Media (Jan 2019 – Apr 2019). In the series, he also played the role of Inspector Dheeraj Singh. In 2019, BHAK won the Asian Academy Creative Awards.

Varun Khanna began producing projects by himself in 2017. In September 2018, he registered his company with the name "Triple Triangle Films" with a partnership deed. He owns fifty percent of the company as director or producer. As a producer of the company, his responsibilities are to initiate, supervise, coordinate, and manage the creation & production of web series, movies, and commercial videos, amongst other productions. He is involved throughout all phases of production from inception to completion, including supervision, coordination, and control of fiancés, crafts, and talent. As a director, his responsibilities include script editing, shot composition, casting, shot selection, and editing.
