Supriya Prasad is an Indian director, executive director, news director, and managing editor. He is a managing editor of AajTak and India Today news channels. In 1991, he began his journalistic career as a stringer in Bihar. Then he was connected to “Prabhat News” as a stringer. He worked for Prabhat News in Jharkhand for some time. During the course of time, Supriya Prasad began looking at journalism closely. In 1994, he went to Delhi and enrolled in the Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC). He is a post-graduate diploma holder from IIMC. He has more than fifteen years of experience in television. In 1995, he joined TV Today where Supriya Prasad was a member of the team that had launched AajTak, a twenty-minute bulletin show on DD-2, and the 24-hour news channel in 2000.
Supriya Prasad did an internship in Rashtriya Sahara Newspaper, where he used to go there at three pm and would work till midnight. It was really difficult for him to reach home after midnight. He used to stay back till two am and took a lift from a compositor. Then he used to wait at the bus stand for around three hours and reached home when bus services would begin. Supriya Prasad would stay at home till ten am and then leave for the All India Radio (AIR) office where he was interning as well. He used to do two internships as he wanted to learn about radio and print in-depth.
In his earlier stint, he was associated with TV Today Network for twelve years and rose to become executive producer. In May 2007, Supriya Prasad joined as a director in the 24-hour Hindi news television channel, News24 owned by BAG Networks. He launched the channel where he stayed for four years. After that again, he returned to AajTak. He has also worked with two media houses. Sometimes he does get press releases on behalf of the government. He heads the group's Hindi mobile platforms, such as SportTak, DelhiTak, NewsTak, PunjabiTak, GadgetTak, and LifeTak.
Supriya Prasad has been honored with the coveted "Hindi Academy Patrakaarita Sammaan” Award for his invaluable contribution to the field of electronic media. Supriya Prasad received an award from Shri Manish Sisodia, a Deputy Chief Minister at a ceremony held at Kamani Auditorium, New Delhi. In 2022, he will be the Chairman of the IIMCAA Scholarships Committee. As the Chief Guest, Supriya Prasad was invited by the Indian Institute of Mass Communication Media Mahakumbh, which is a bigger honor for him.
