Sanjay Talreja, born and raised in India, has had award-winning documentaries air on television in India, the US, and Canada. He started working on non-fiction projects in Mumbai and went on to direct other issue-based documentaries in India. He worked as an editor and producer for the well-known Media Education Foundation in the US. He has edited several independent documentaries in Canada.
At the University of Windsor in Ontario as well as other film schools in Canada and India, Sanjay has taught courses in documentary and world cinema. He directed a documentary for the National Film Board and worked as a freelance narrative and field producer on a CBC series. He recently served as director of a highly low-budget dramatic movie and has secured financing from the Ontario Arts Council for a documentary about the difficulties Toronto's taxi drivers face.
Additionally, the Soros Documentary Fund and Quebecor have both given him financial assistance. The issues of globalization, migration, identity, and nationalism are explored in Sanjay's films. He holds an MFA in cinema. He is known for directing movies like ‘ Surkhaab Click to look into! >> Read More... ’, ‘Cricket and the Meaning of Life’ and ‘The Highway’.
