Partho Mitra is a director. Partho started his career as a director in 1992. The first television show that Partho directed was Shanti which aired on Doordarshan. After directing this show, Partho worked with Balaji Telefilms. Partho has also directed numerous TV shows such as Kahani Ghar Ghar Kii and Chakravyuh which were popular serials. 

He has also directed Kyaa Hua Tera Vaada and Bade Acche Lagte Hain for Sony Entertainment Television. Partho has been in this field for many years. According to Partho, films and daily soaps are the same, and the only difference between them is their format,  i.e a movie ends in a few hours whereas a serial continues for a long time in an episodic format.

Partho said that film and serial transmit the same message, but in a serial, there is a continuation which is difficult for a director as he has to see that script is undergoing many stages. Partho thinks that the serials which aired earlier were much better than those who are being aired now. Partho has a unique and extraordinary style of working.

He loves working according to his comfort zone. Partho is a very sincere director as he keeps track of the show from the scripting time till the editing time and he nurtures the show just like a parent does with its children. He looks after the cast, their costumes, and even the comfort zone of his crew members.

Partho’sview is that firstly, he needs to make the actors feel comfortable and then make them understand the character so well that they can feel the character. Partho thinks that Television is congested as there are a lot of shows airing at the same time. Partho is a very down to earth man, and he never steps back from the difficult situation.

He loves to learn new things. Partho’s advise for aspiring directors is that they should learn something new every day, even if he has to learn from a spot boy or somebody else. Partho said, “Attitude should never take over your habit of learning”. 

Partho is very passionate about his work and that keeps him happy. Partho has a passion for photography, and he is interested in cinematography as well as casting. So, if he wouldn’t be a director then he definitely would be a cameraman. But, he is in direction because he has immense interest in cinema.
