Nishant Nayak is an Indian director, who was born in Calcutta. He finished his education at St. Xavier's collegiate school, and then in Assembly of God Church school. Nishant took his master’s degree in Visual Media Arts from Boston University, but soon, he realized that he wants to do something else, and came to Mumbai again. He directed MTV unplugged season 2 and 3, coke studio season 2, MTV sound Tripping with A R Rahman. He has directed the first Indian music video, which was produced by global fashion giant H&M. The music video’s name was Akkad Bakkad for the Nucleya movie.
In his words, YouTube means your favorite content at any time, and anywhere. MTV has successfully broadcasted new web series, and shows, which the audience liked. He feels very lucky to work in two of MTV’s top music shows. Many singers with whom he has worked speak about the mentor-student relationship, which they shared with him.
He founded a production company, Black Balloon. He had spent five years working at various networks observing what worked, and what didn’t. But in his pursuit of commercial satisfaction and the traditional career climb, he had forgotten what it was to make stuff. So he quit his last job at a television network and told his parents that he wanted to work independently. It was a two-year plan in his head. He thought he would get work as a television advertisement director or corporate storyteller. His production house produces indie artists and short films around his city, Bombay. He wants to engage with the audience across all social media platforms.
