Mikhil Musale

Mikhil Musale is a director who works in the Bolywood and Gujarati film industry. Mikhil was born on 3^rd November 1982 in a Maharashtrian family living in Gujarat. Mikhil was brought up in Ahmedabad, where he completed his schooling and graduation. Mikhil is an engineer who graduated in 2010. During his college days itself, Mikhil had shown huge interest in moving into the cinema line and becoming a director.

During the 2010s, Gujarati films that were being made were not getting as much attention from the people, the movies that were being released didn’t have the attraction for the Gujarati audience to go and watch. Upon completing his graduation, Mikhil moved to Mumbai, in hopes of becoming a director, but things didn’t go as he planned. Hence, Mikhil moved back to Ahmedabad and decided to rather put all his focus on the Gujarati cinema and make their movies better again. Mikhil then decided to start his own production house called CineMan Productions along with 2 of his friends Abhishek Jain A 28-year-old director and the creator of CineMan >> Read More... and Anish Shah.

The trio actually met each other at an international film festival that was being held at Ahmedabad. The first movie that they released through CineMan was Kevi Rite Jaish in 2012. The comedy movie revolves around the satirical story of how Gujarati Patels have an obsession with moving to the USA and starting their businesses there. The small budgeted movie actually performed very well in Gujarat, some parts of India and even in some parts of the USA and UK where the Gujarati population is quite high.

In 2016, Mikhil finally made his directorial debut on the big screen with Wrong Side Raju. This was the first release in partnership with Anurag Kashyap’s Phantom Films. Wrong Side Raju is a crime thriller inspired by a real hit and run case in Gujarat. The story revolves around a simple boy named Raju who is wrongfully accused of a hit and run. The movie opened with rave reviews and is critically acclaimed by audiences and critics alike. This movie went on to win multiple National Awards. Mikhil also became the first-ever director to win the Gujarati Screen Awards for best director on his debut film.
