Adi Pocha was born in 1962, in India. He is a writer and a filmmaker by profession. He is skilled in advertising, videography, photography, creative writing and a lot more things. He was born to a comedian father and singer mother. He has been serving the advertising and television industry as a writer for past 29 years. He is the owner of Squirkle Productions Pvt. Ltd., which is a corporate and documentary filmmaking company. He did his schooling at Saint Xavier’s school, Mumbai. He pursued a degree of Bachelor of Science in Physics at Wilson College-Harrisburg. When Adi was in college, he decided not to pursue a career in the showbiz industry.
Adi could not make very well as a student. In 1984, He was asked by his father to meet his friend Roger Pereira, who was the owner of Shilpi advertising Lmt. Roger hired Adi as a copywriter for his company. This was his first job. In 1985, he was appointed at Lintas’. Later, he was made creative head at Lintas’ office at Kolkata (1985-1991). He became the youngest creative director, at the age of 25. Then he left Lintas’ and joined UTV. At UTV, he started directing T.V. commercials. In 1992, he directed a game show called ‘Saanp seedi’, which gained immense popularity. Afterwards, he happened to direct and write India’s first daily soap ‘
’, in 1994. He was the executive producer of the daily soap too.
He was linked with The Indian Express, for ten years and used to write a fortnightly column, which was called “Rebel without a clue”. He earned a great fan following through this column. He wrote a fiction novel “Behram’s boat”, which is a story of 65-year-old Parsi named Behram Rustomjee, who is a reforming alcoholic. Currently, Adi is focused on the fifth draft of his second book.
