Subhreet Kaur Ghumman

Subhreet Kaur Ghumman was born in the village of Jhundan, which comes under the district of Amargarh, Punjab and is popularly known as the ‘One-Legged Dancer.’ At the age of 23 Subhreet had to get her left leg amputated due to a road accident but this did not hamper her determination. Subhreet has appeared in reality TV shows and has become a role model for many in the country. She first came into limelight when she performed in the Indian reality TV show “India’s Got Talent”. Subhreet did not win the show and was awarded the runners up position but what she did win were a million hearts across the nation. She had become a sensation as ‘the girl who danced on one leg’. Subhreet then went on to appear in the 8th season of the celebrity dance reality show ‘Jhalak Dikhla Ja’.

She has also made appearances in Punjabi films and numerous advertisements. In her interview with ‘Cover Asia Press’ Subhreet says that it was a difficult life after the accident, but Music and Danced helped her to thrive through that difficult phase. Subhreet looks up to her mother as a role model and claims that her mother was the pillar behind her not giving up on her dreams, which has remained Subhreet’s motto in life. Subhreet married her then boyfriend, Yash Makkar, on the 6th of June 2014 but the couple soon got divorced on account of charges and counter-charges from both Subhreet and Yash. The story of Subhreet’s life was an episode on HRX heroes on the 24th of November, 2015.

Subhreet Kaur continues to perform and spread motivation through her performances. She aims to open up a dancing studio in the coming future.
