Deepti Sharma

Deepti Bhagwan Sharma is an Indian international women team cricketer. She is currently ranked 4th in top all-rounder by the ICC. Deepti was born on 24 August 1997 in Agra, Uttar Pradesh. She does Left-handed batting and Right-arm off-break bowling. Deepti Bhagwan is the youngest child of Sushilaa and Bhagwan Sharma. Her father Bhagwan Sharma was chief booking supervisor in the Indian Railways when he retired. The girl had developed her interest in cricket from the age of nine. Deepti’s brother was former Uttar Pradesh pacer. He was the one to coach her initially and took her to the ground so that she could watch net practices.

In one such net practice at Ekalavya Sports Stadium in Agra, Deepti was asked to throw back the ball into the play. She threw the ball in such a way that it hit the stump 50 Meters away on the direct throw. This action of Deepti got caught by nation women team selector named, Hemlata Kala, and it was the turning point of her life. As she became 15 years old, Deepti had gained enough experience to get selected in the state team. Former Indian batter Rita Dey saw her all-rounder ability and decided to mentor her. Deepti started her career as a medium-pacer, but soon under guidance and counseling of local coaches and selectors, she learned slow off-spin bowling.

Sharma always gave a spectacular performance. Her debut game in the year 2014 against South Africa in Bangaluru got highly appreciated and created her door to the national side. In an ODI she took five wickets. Her best bowling record includes 6/20 in an ODI and 2/23 in a T20. Deepti is third-highest individual scorer women cricketer as she scored 188 runs in ODIs. Deepti’s ODI debut was against South Africa on 28 November 2014 and T20 debut against England on 9 March 2019. Deepti Bhagwan Sharma is the young star of Indian women cricket team.
