Nikhat Mariyam Neerushaa is a Bollywood costume designer and stylist. She was born in Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh on, 2 November 1974. Responsible for costumes in movies like
, the designer adds elegance to period dramas. The designer started her career by writing scripts for radio and doing theatre.
During her theatre life, she met the father of her son. Nikhat is presently a working, single mother. Along with a beautiful son, she also nurtured her dream and went on to work as the assistant costume director in movies Amarpali and Jodhaa Akbar. Chandrakanta, Hatim, SiyaKe Ram, and Bharat Ka Veer – Maharana Pratap are popular Hindi series.
She has also designed in her repertoire. Costumes for Bollywood movies Jodhaa Akbar and Bajirao Mastaani. In 2018, Nikhat launched the brand Neerushaa. The brand aimed to promote local Indian products. Labeling the handloom craftsmen “the roots of India”, the brand uplifted traditionally made garments.
Nikhat received a Dada Saheb Phalke award titled “Heritage Indian Textile Reviver” for the brand’s efforts. Nikhat has attracted a lot of appreciation for her work, nominated and awarded many awards throughout her career. She won ITA Award for Best Costume 4 years in a row from 2003. Receiving many more nominations and awards for Indian Telly Award for Best Stylist and ITA Award for Best Costume, she made her place in star-studded Bollywood.
