Agnimitra Paul

Agnimitra Paul is a fashion designer of Indian origin who entered politics in the year 2019. Agnimitra was born into a family of medical professionals and educators. She was born on November 25, 1974 in Asanol, West Bengal. Her father, Dr. Ashok Roy, is a pediatrician based in Asansol. She received her education from Loreto Convent and Asansol Girls' College, and went on to earn a Bachelor's degree in Botany (Honours) from Banwarilal Bhalotia College. She has also studied Fashion Technology from Birla Institute of Liberal Arts and Mangaement. Agnimitra started out as a costume designer. In her career as a fashion designer, she has created clothing for numerous Bollywood films including Koi Mere Dil Se Pooche and Via Darjeeling.

She has also designed costumes and personal wardrobes for many well-known figures, such as Vinay Pathak, Esha Deol, Sridevi, Mithun Chakraborthy, Kay Kay Menon, Shonal Rawat, Sonali Kulkarni, and Parvin Dabas. She also launched her own fashion brand Inga in several cities across India. Her work was noticed and got a chance to be exhibited at the Lakme Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2013. Her work has even caught the attention of former US Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton, who received shawls and blankets designed by Paul as a gift. In March 2019, Agnimitra Paul joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

A year later, in 2020, she became the president of the BJP Mahila Morcha in West Bengal, succeeding Locket Chatterjee. As the head of the BJP Mahila Morcha, she organized a workshop called Uma which provided self-defense training for women across 23 districts in the state of West Bengal.
