Snehal Bhatkar was born in a Marathi-speaking family on July 17, 1919, in Mumbai. He was 18 months old when his father passed away. His mother was both a singer and a teacher, and he learned the fundamentals of music from her. He studied music at a Dadar music institution after matriculating. Vasudev Gangaram Bhatkar, B., known as Snehal Bhatkar, was a renowned Hindi and Marathi film music composer from Mumbai, India. He was given the Lata Mangeshkar Award in 2004, which the Maharashtra government established.
He used several pseudonyms while formally working as an HMV composer to avoid contract violations. B. Vasudev and "Snehal" were among them, but "Snehal Bhatkar" ended up being the only option. The name was drawn from Snehlata, his daughter, who had just been born at the time. In 1947, he launched his film career with the release of Neel Kamal. Together, Bhatkar and lyricist Kidar Nath Sharma produced popular songs like Kabhi Tanhaiyon Mein (Hamari Yaad Aayegi), which is often cited as the pinnacle of Bhatkar's career. He served as the music director for movies including Fariyad (1964), Deepak (1981), Pehla Kadam (1963), and Hamari Yaad Aayegi (1961).
