Kunal Kamra

Kunal Kamra is an Indian stand-up comedian & YouTuber known for his obsessive comedy about absurdities of life. He was born on October 3, 1988, in Mahim, Mumbai, India. He completed his secondary education at a Local High School in Mumbai. Later, he went to ‘Jai Hind College’ to pursue his degree in Commerce. His hobbies are traveling and bike riding. Kunal Kamra’s father owns a pharmacy in Mumbai. Kunal dropped out of college in his second year and then worked as a production assistant in Prasoon Pandey’s advertising film production house, Corcoise Films, for almost eleven years. He worked on international shoots, produced commercials for famous brands, and conducted high-powered meetings with representatives of big media organizations. 

In 2013, he began performing as a stand-up comedian with a gig at the Canvas Laugh Club in Mumbai. He performed his debut professional show, “Blue Frog,” in 2013. Kunal Kamra’s performances include jokes on cabbies, politics, bachelor life, and television advertisements. He began his YouTube channel in 2017. He uploaded a comedy video titled “Patriotism and the Government” on March 1, 2017, which received him immense popularity. In the video, he mocked the government, Indian banknote demonetization, and the attitude of Indians towards the army, for which he received many death threats.

In July 2017, he commenced his web series titled “Shut Up Ya Kunal” with Ramit Verma. The show featured politicians and activists like Jignesh Mevani, Gujarat’s MLA and Dalit and activist, Madhukeshwar Desai, the vice- president of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
