Vashishtha Pradhan is a director of photography and cinematographer based in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. He was born on October 14, 1998, in Darjeeling, West Bengal. He earned his bachelor’s degree in cinematography and film and video production from Mumbai University, Mumbai. He went to St. Joseph's School, North Point, and St. Paul's School Darjeeling to learn skills in photography and film analysis. Later, he went to The American Society of Cinematographers to join the Vision Mentorship Program, Cinematography.
Vashishtha Pradhan started his career as an intern at ‘Curious: Film Production Company,’ but after some time, with immense skills, he became an assistant cameraman and worked on various projects. In 2018, he worked for Dhrama Production as an intern and served in the camera and lighting department for the movie Kalank. Afterwards, for almost two years he worked as a creative producer and filmmaker at ‘Chapter 2.’ In the meantime, he is self-employed freelance and working as a director of photography.
Vashishtha Pradhan has voluntarily worked on various projects for instance, he made a documentary film on the Maruni (Nepali folk dance style) Dancers representing the Nepali Culture at the World Cultural Festival, a film for the ‘All India Women Conference’ self-made sanitary pads at A.I.W.C, Darjeeling, a documentary film for the Goodwill Week in Darjeeling (2015), and a documentary based on the uprising hip-hop culture of Dharavi (2017). He is immensely popular for the music video Awaaz (2023), Short films CHITRA - An Ode to Imagination (2021), The Basket (2021), The Funeral (2021), Forgotten Pain (2020), Layla (2019), and the documentary “Song for the Old (2019).”
