Ishani Roy is an Indian cinematographer and an assistant director who has made many award-winning films, documentaries, and shorts for the film industry. She started her journey in cinematography with "Saints and Sinners" in 2015. It was a short documentary on a church and its eerie features and tasks it carries out after dark. This was her own film during her student years, and it was selected for BBC 3 FRESH. Ishani holds a Master's degree in Cinematography and has experience of almost 7 years in numerous national and international projects. She is well-experienced in documentary film-making and takes a keen interest in environmental, musical, and short films. She also likes to make travel short films and has experience of almost 3 years in the Indian industry.

She currently resides in Bournemouth, England. Her current job title is 'runner,' and she has experience in the posts of the camera operator, cinematographer, and second assistant director. Ishani completed her Bachelor's in Arts (B.A.) in Sociology from St. Xavier's College, Kolkata. She completed her Post Graduate Diploma in Communications Media from Sophia Polytechnic, Mumbai. After that, she moved to Bournemouth University to complete her Master's in Digital Cinematography. From 2010 to 2013, she has worked as an assistant director with "Sur Films" under projects led by Surabhi Sharma.

Her well-known work is "Fairy Lights," a TV mini-series that aired in the year 2019. Ishani has also worked in the Camera and Electrical department as a camera operator and assistant camera in several top Indian documentaries and shorts. She was the assistant camera in Deniz Erel's "Stowaway," released in 2016, and a camera operator in Sue Sudbury's "Indian Space Dreams," an hour-long documentary featuring a very intriguing story about dreams and aspirations. Ishani was also the camera operator in Sugandha Garg's "Kashmir," an eleven-minute short film.

She was the first assistant camera in the first episode of the second season of "A.I.SHA- My Virtual Girlfriend" in 2017 and has gained a lot of fame in the film industry. Ishani has done a lot and achieved a lot in a brief period of just a few years. She is driven by talent and a will to create art. Her passion for cinematography reaches far beyond the average craze of a person, and she does everything in the most elegant way possible. Her works are an example of a mix of creativity and inspiration, experience and observation.
