Manizalat Fatima is a famous Chef. She is well known among Bengal's intellectuals and food connoisseurs for reviving and keeping alive the Awadhi Cuisine. She was born in Shia Muslim Family, one of Calcutta's oldest Muslim families, linking her to the Royal Family of Awadh. She is the daughter of Dr. Kaukub Qudr Meerza. Food in Awadh was like a sport for the Nawabs, and Fatima was an expert player filled with passion. She did her high school education in Aligarh Public school. Then she completed her graduation in English (Hons) from Women’s College, Aligarh Muslim University. Later, after getting married, she completed a 5-year LLB course in 2002.
Fatima initially continued her life as a homemaker, but later her food spoke for itself. Initially Fatima started small, by taking orders on special requests by friends and relatives. Recognition by various food forums and print media gave her the push to take up the Home Chef Title. With this, she not only took food to a new level but also preserved the recipes of the Royal Family of Awadh and brought them to the mainstream cuisine. Later, Fatima opened a restaurant ‘MANZILAT’s’ in Anandapur, Kolkata. The most famous dish Fatima is known for is Chicken and Mutton Biryani.
