Balvinder Singh Sandhu is a former Indian international cricketer and associate director. He was born on August 3, 1956. Balvinder Singh Sandhu's place of birth is Bombay (now Mumbai), Maharashtra. He received his education at Guru Nanak Technical High School, Mumbai. He also studied at Guru Nanak Khalsa College, Mumbai and Khalsa College & Jhunjhunwala College. After that, he took a Master of Arts degree in Economics at RN Jhunjhunwala College, Ghatkopar (1978 – 1984). His father, Harnam Singh Naz, was a renowned poet.

Harnam Singh Naz worked in the Public Health Department of the Punjab Government till 1948. His mother's name is Gurcharan Kaur, while his stepmother's name is Surjit Kaur. His grandfather, Sardar Jagat Singh Sandhu, was a Malay army "Havaldhar." His grandmother's name is Jawal Kaur. He has a sister named Paramjit Kaur and a stepsister named Nirmal Kaur. He married Ravinder Kaur, with whom he has two daughters. His daughters are Timrar Kaur (Nazo) and Jankeesh Kaur.

Balvinder Singh Sandhu played as a medium-fast bowler and a hardy tailender for India. He played a significant role in lifting the 1983 World Cup trophy for India. Therefore, he began watching cricket at three. During childhood, he played near the house with a tennis ball. At sixteen, he attended the summer vacation camp organized by the Bombay Cricket Association. He took cricket seriously after joining Jhunjhunwala College where his performance was terrifically improved.

In that phase, he took twenty-five wickets in three matches. During the Kanga Cricket League, Balvinder Singh Sandhu began bowling pace. He later learned the art of swing bowling. In late 1980, his cricket career started when he was spotted by Yeshwant Sidhaye, the former first-class cricketer, during a summer training camp. He later came under the eye of famous coach Ramakant Achrekar. In 1980 – 81, he played his maiden first-class game for Bombay. He debuted against Gujarat, where he ended with nine wickets.

Before this, he played for Sind Sports Club in the Kanga Cricket League for Rajasthan in 1979. In 1983, he made his fourth test international debut against Pakistan at Niaz Cricket Stadium at Hyderabad in Pakistan. Balvinder Singh Sandhu was a member of the Indian cricket team that won the 1983 Cricket World Cup. Balvinder Singh Sandhu served as the coach of Punjab and Mumbai after retiring. Also, he worked with the National Cricket Academy. He played in the Kenyan Club in 1990 and also coached Baroda. He was associated with the ICL (Indian Cricket League) in 2008.

As the Head Cricket Coach, he served in the MP Cricket Association (September 2006 – June 2007). He has been the Cricket Consultant at NACL Inc. USA since July 2008. He was the academy director at Essel Sports Pvt. Ltd. (August 2008 – April 2010). He also authored a book, "The Devil's Pack," which was published on February 1, 2011. The book is based on India's journey of winning the 1983 Cricket World Cup. He has been the director of cricket operations at The Sports Gurukul (TSG) in Mumbai since Nov 2012.

As a managing director, he has been working at Inswing Broking LLP since Jan 2015. He has ventured into the real estate business by booking a deal for Arjuna Ranatunga and Shreepati Group – '96 Iconic Tower,' Colombo.
