Sipra Mitra is a well-known actress from Hindi and Bengali film industry. Her birthdate is 30 March 1930. Her birthplace is Bihar. Her father was Abhaya Pada Chattopadhyay, an Indian Railway Engineer, and her mother was Prabhasini Devi. When she was eight, his parents came to Bengal and stayed at Kanchrapara, near Kolkata. Sipra got encouragement for acting and music from her parent and started taking records in All India Radio. In 1944, she gave her first record with the Senola Company.

Sipra entered the Hindi film from the movie Chhoti Si Bat. Her other Hindi movies are Gol Maal and Sholay.
In 1954, she acted in the role of Kamala in her first play, Durbhasini, at Rangmahal Theatre. Later, she played Rajlakhsmi in Sarat Chandra Chatterjee's classic novel Srikanta, Pateswari in Saheb Bibi Golam. Sipra was also a member of Abhinetri Sangha and Shilpi Sangsad.Her husband was actor and producer Sisir Mitra. She passed away on 23 May 2009.
