Rachna Gupta is a rising actress in the Indian film industry. She shot to fame when she played the role of a young, lonely housewife who awaits the return of her husband from the city, in the award winning film, Laapataa Ladies (2023). Her role, even though small, was quite impactful and brought her into the limelight. Since her childhood, Rachna had a fascination for performing on the stage. Her desire for acting developed further when her grandfather, Chaggu Ram Sahib, founded the Krishna Dramatics Club back in her hometown Pathankot. Initially, Rachna pursued a career in psychology from the DAV College, Chandigarh. It was here that she became a part of the Aaghaz Drama Club. While performing there, Rachna discovered what her heart truly desired.
She subsequently joined the National School of Drama in New Delhi at the age of 22. So far, she is the youngest candidate to join the prestigious institution. At the beginning of her journey, Rachna performed in several theatre plays in Chandigarh to hone her skills. Her first excursion in the film industry was in a short film, Boys Toys, in 2018. Later, she appeared in a supporting role in the 2021 horror comedy film, Roohi. Her most impactful performance was in the film Laapataa Ladies, in which she stole the audience’s heart with her inspiring performance and plausible transformation.
