Jasmeet K. Reen

Jasmeet K. Reen is a renowned Indian writer cum director. She studied Commerce from Sydenham College of Commerce and Economics, Mumbai, Maharashtra. While doing C A, she realized it was not her calling and explored advertising, working with Ogilvy and McCann Erickson. Then she went on to assist in ad films and feature films. Without any industry connections, she pursued her passion for writing and forged her path into the film industry. Before entering the Hindi film industry, she completed a summer course at FTI, Pune. Here, her education was, primarily theoretical, with practical skills developed through on-the-job experience. She claims herself to be self-taught which involves watching numerous films, reading scripts, understanding editing, and honing her writing skills.

She debuted in Bollywood as a writer in 2016 with Force 2. Her other notable works include- Fanney Khan Click to look into! >> Read More... (2018), Pati Patni aur Woh (2021) and Gustakhiya (2023). The release of Darlings (A dark comedy movie) on Netflix on 5th August 2022, marked the turning point in her life, which also marked her directorial debut. Among the vast number of nominations, “Darlings” led to her winning awards for Best Original Story (IIFA, 2023), Best Debut Director ( Zee Cine Awards, 2023), Best Screenplay Original (Filmfare OTT, 2023) and Best Director (Bollywood Hungama OTT India Fest, 2023).
