Surjit Dhami, aka Surjit Singh Dhami, was an actor, who worked in Bollywood and Pollywood. Before venturing into the film industry, he was a teacher by profession. He was famous for his role in the Bollywood movie, Mausam, a romantic film directed by Pankaj Kapur. Surjit shared the screen with Shahid Kapoor and Sonam Kapoor as Darji in this 2011 movie.
Surjit made his theatre debut in 1976 with the play Faizal by the team Panch Rang Manch. In 1982, he played his first TV serial on Doordarshan Jalandhar TV. He was seen playing in serials until 2007. In 2008, he made his debut in the Punjabi movie Aankhen Udikiyan. Ambarsariya, Sahib and Hamari Si are some of his films. In Sahib, he played the role of a CM, Gurpyar Singh.
In 2013, he was seen in Ronde Sare Vyah Picho, directed by Vijay Kumar Arora. Harish Verma, Neeru Bajwa, and Guggu Gill shared the screen with Surjit. In the 2016 Punjabi movie “Sardaarji,” directed by Rohit Jugraj, he played the role of Khurd. Diljit Dosanjh, Monica Gill, Sonam Bajwa, and Gurpreet Bal shared the screen space with Surjit.
Surjit breathed his last on 7th January 2024.
