Burjor Patel is a veteran advertising and theatre personality. His career span lasted over six decades in Gujrati theatre and the ad world. He was a member of the Parsi community and Mumbai-native and held various positions during his tenure at the newspaper, including vice president of marketing and advertisement manager. Prior, he was with the Mumbai advertising division of Calcutta-based Statesman newspaper. He made a statement in the media sector in UAE during his 20-year tenure in Khaleej Times, supporting it in its journey to becoming a media powerhouse. He was mainly known for working in” Khaleej Times.” He joined it in December 1988, at age 58, and retired in March 2009. At the time of retirement, he was Senior vice president of strategy and development. Burjor Patel passed away at the age of 91 due to old age. His other daughter is Feeroza and his son is Marzban, CEO of Mediascope, a content and media sales corporation. Burjor and his wife contributed in great measures to the Arts scene in Dubai. After concluding his law Marzban urged Patel to pursue advertising. He then joined Jam-e-Jamshed, one of the oldest publications in India, started in 1832. He worked there for 12 years. Marzban along with Patel transformed the modern Gujrati Theatre. In childhood, Patel was fond of cricket but later realized that there was very less scope for him to get into the team and he had an extensive passion for theatre so he decided to go for it. His college was Elphinstone in Erstwhile Bombay. After college hours, he used to sit near Churchgate station and watch rehearsals of Adi Marzban, an award-winning theatre personality. He is a recipient of Padma Shree, the 4th highest civilian award in India, and the Sangeet Natak Academy Award. Patel later joined Times of India.

He got engaged in his career and his theatre was being overlooked. He finally joined publications on the condition that he would continue his theatre activities. He had also set up Parsi Syndicate Group to encourage the world of comedies and thrillers on the Mumbai theatre stage. Later, he was transferred to Delhi but used to fly down to Mumbai for theatres. Patel is also famous for his commercials in the “Delights” campaign of Vodafone.
