Harindra J. Dave was a well-known writer who rose to fame in Gujarati literature. Dave was born on 19 September 1930 in Khambra village, Kutch district, Gujarat. Dave began working as a journalist, editor, and translator for numerous Gujarati journals after graduating from Samaldas College, Bhavnagar. Dave had an early interest in books and a natural love for language and poetry. He was a poet, playwright as well as a novelist. Many of his writings cover the everyday problems of the average man. Aside from writing, Dave was instrumental in creating the Gujarati Sahitya Parishad, a significant literary body dedicated to promoting Gujarati literature. He was the organization's president, working relentlessly to raise the status of Gujarati literature and give a forum for young writers.

Dave garnered various medals and honors for literary achievements over his career. He received “Sahitya Akademi Award” in 1978 for his poetry collection ‘Hayati’ and “ Gujarati Sahitya Parishad Award for journalism. His writings are praised for their creative worth and ability to connect with readers. Savadhan, Apni Kahani, Naribandh, and Chandu Ni Mummy are among his major works. Harindra Dave’s literary legacy reveals not only his command of the Gujarati language but also his dedication to social change and cultural upliftment. His works continue to inspire generations of readers and authors, cementing his place in Gujarati literature. On 29 March 1995, Harindra Dave died, leaving behind a rich literary legacy that continues to enthrall readers.
