Arif Mir, born on 1st June 1952, is an Indian singer and composer. Amir hails from Ahmedabad, Gujarat. He comes from a family of musicians, with both his father and grandfather being renowned singers of their times. Amir graduated in English from North Gujarat University Patan in 2003. Mir completed his Master’s in Music from a private university. Amir Mir’s guru for Gujarati Sugam music was Padma Shri Purushottam Upadhyay. Mir received further guidance from the illustrious music master Ustad Murtaza Mustafa Khan. Amir Mir is the recipient of the best singer award from the Mumbai-based Benefit Film Academy. Amir Mir has performed over a thousand live shows in Dandiya festival programs.

With more than a hundred live shows across India, Mir is also a well-known Sufi and qawwali singer. Amir’s abroad singing ventures include a 2015 performance in Manchester, United Kingdom, and the 2017 Indian Folk Festival in Europe. He is associated with UNM Foundation’s Ahmedabad-based flagship project Abhivyakti. Amir Mir currently performs Gujarati folk, Sufi, ghazals, and folk songs in various programs.
