She was born on 26 December, 1980 in Hyderabad. She was a Bengali by birth. She was brought up in Kolkata. She was a commerce graduate. She was presently living in Hyderabad. Later she took modelling and acting as profession. She is 5’6 in height. She started acting in 2001 and made her debut through dashing director (Tollywood director famous for his dialogues) film ‘Itlu Sravani Subramanyam (starred by Ravi Teja)’. Later in the same year she played small roles in some films. Afterwards she starred in some low budget B grade films. She also did many item numbers in Telugu films. She has also acted in two Bengali films. One of them is the remake of a Telugu film. And she also acted in Telugu remake in Kannada. She also acted in three Tamil movies and a movie was stalled in the middle. Her projects mainly included remake films.

She made her debut in Malayalam as Tanushree Ghosh, and won some critical acclaim for her role in a movie as mother for 10-year old. She had also worked in Orissa; there she played a social activist, who works for the welfare of tribal people in a village.

She also participated in Telugu TV show ‘Naacho Re’, a dance show in ZEE Telugu channel. She was one of the participants, and all the participants were celebrities like her. She was provided with a choreographer and her choreographer was suresh verma. She got some publicity again due to the dance show. She also participated in , a reality dance show on Gemini TV. She is one among 12 participants, all of whom were actress. Her recent picture is ‘Ala jarigindi oka roju’, a remake of British movie. Her other activities are, she was shot for a cameo in Hashim Marrikar's (CEO of marikal film production and distribution based in Kochi) Preview. In 2014 she appeared onscreen in a Malayalam movie ‘Balyakalasakhi’.
