The story is set in the early '90s and portrays Tawaifs as sophisticated women with manners who don't engage in sexual activities. Sitara Jahan (Bushra Ansari), a classical singer, dancer, and musician, wants her daughters, Feroza (Zara Noor Abbas) and Nagina (Nausheen Shah), to perform Mujra and entertain her clients. Sitara takes pride in her family legacy and does not view it negatively.

Nagina's life takes a turn when Feroza escapes from Sitara Mahal. Nagina realizes that her family is falling apart and takes over Feroza's duties to the best of her abilities. Faiz Ali, a craftsman, is a part of the family. He has an extreme love-hate relationship with Nagina. Sitara Jahan takes exceptional care of him as he has no one. Faiz loves Nagina, but she hates him. As the story progresses, Sitara forces Nagina to marry Faiz, and after the marriage, she falls in love with him. Later, Nagina gives birth to her twin daughters, Sandal and Geti-Aara.

Children's birth brings some happiness to Sitara Mahal, but it doesn't last long. Faiz Ali died after the birth of his daughters. This made  Nagina a widow and her daughters fatherless. Nagina is the central character of Deewar-e-Shab, and she goes through a transformation with the next generation, her twin daughters, Sandal and Geti-Aara.
