The story is about a young girl, Sana. She gets a job at a firm. Sana's family dreams of Sana marrying a rich husband for a comfortable life. However, she is careless and inexperienced at everything. It leads to several comical scenes. Her boss, Taimur is often annoyed at her for this. She meets Faraz at Sara’s wedding who falls for her. Faraz is an extrovert who is a fun-loving and confident man. He gets a job at the same firm as hers. Faraz gets acquainted with Sara’s family as he frequently comes to visit her. Her family likes Faraz and thinks about marrying Sana to him.

Meanwhile, Sana gets close to her boss, Taimur. Taimur is a shy man who does not talk much and keeps things to himself. Taimur liked Sana because he was lonely as his wife Abeer was in a coma. Both Taimur and Faraz know about their common affection towards Sana but they are polite with each other. When Taimur goes to Sana’s to express his feelings for her, he sees Faraz and leaves. When Abeer dies, Sana goes to Taimur’s home to convey her condolences. Faraz leaves her there so that she can be with Taimur. To Faraz’s surprise, she accepts his love and wants to be with him. This drama series has acquired a massive fan following all these years. Ankahi is considered one of the cult classic drama series of Pakistan.
