Swarna Khadgam is a period drama that features love, evil, and revenge. Raja Mahendran is crowned King after his father dies. Like any other kingdom, this also had a Rajamatha who made the ultimate decision for everything. Raja Mahendran’s mother, Rajamatha Sulochanadevi, held this power. Rajamatha Sulochanadevi has been searching for the perfect daughter-in-law for the house, the future queen for the kingdom, and the to-be wife for the King. She happens upon Vindhyavathi, a beautiful princess of the neighbouring kingdom, and deems her perfect for the above positions. Raja Mahendran likes her and agrees to marry her. Mahadatri is the princess of another neighbouring kingdom and is in love with Raja Mahendran.

She doesn’t like the idea of him getting married to another woman and tries to sabotage it. Raja Mahendran ends up marrying Vindhyavathi. Mahadatri’s fight for her lover doesn’t end even after the wedding. The kingdom has a swami ji who everyone goes to clear their problems. Rajamatha Sulochanadevi takes the swami Ji’s advice before making important decisions. Raja Mahendran goes to wars with other Kings and leaves the responsibility of the kingdom at the hands of Rani Vindhyavathi, who accomplishes her duties with great care and precision.

A part of the serial featured the insider manipulation and cruelty that goes unnoticed in every kingdom. Every story needs an ultimate villain, this story has one too. Shiroth Khanda, a recluse who doesn’t have any family, customs, or a proper way of life, is after the Swarna Khadgam (the golden sword). The sword holds a massive amount of magic that imbibes its beholder with immense power to rule the world. This sword is with Raja Mahendran in his kingdom. Shiroth Khanda tries to use his dark magic to get the sword in his possession. It is Raja Mahendran’s responsibility to prevent that from happening.
