Nilavai Pidipom is an IBC Tamil program. A children’s art show that plays on Sunday at 11.00 pm. It is a children’s show because each child is presented in each episode. The host present there tries to get to know the child, about their life, their passion and all. Then, children are given a chance to perform on the stage. They perform the art form in which they are proficient. A 16-year-old girl Karni Vardhan from Milton Keynes was interviewed by the host in one episode. She was the eldest among her four siblings. She talked about several things about her life, how she managed to study Tamil, and every unique experience she had while learning Tamil. She did not learn Tamil by going to school but her parents taught her and proved that even though a child can learn without going to school. She took exams in a private school because she was not a regular student. From her early days, she conveyed her interest. Tamil history interested her the most. She had a different interest in knowing about the ancient Kings of Tamil Nadu. She has a passion for Barathanatyam which is a classical Indian form and she also expressed that. She has been learning dance since a young age. She has been learning for four years under one of the best teachers Radhika Rajalohan. She finds something interesting in Varnam dance and has a specific interest in Varnam dance. Even though It is a complicated dance form that is challenging to learn but, she still finds it enjoyable.

She used to balance her regular English school with her Tamil studies. She is taught Tamil only on weekends. She also likes to read Tamil newspapers and by that, she improved her language skills. After the small conversation, they move on to a beautiful performance by the child. Karni then performed a Varanam dance for the audience. The host also encourages Karni for the need for practice in mastering the dance. After that viewers can watch a dance performance by the child. In each of the episodes, they will show a dance performance by a different child. The show emphasizes the talents of young people in maintaining Indian cultural education and improving their skills in arts even though living in another country. The viewers were thinking throughout the program how a young Tamil girl living abroad maintains her cultural education and pursues traditional arts while balancing her life in a new country. The show provides a platform for young people to showcase their talents and get fame. The episodes are available on YouTube.
