Kalakkal Champions is a comedy television show that features a compilation of the best performances from the comedy show Kalakka Povathu Yaaru. Kalakka Povathu Yaaru is a Tamil language comedy reality television show that airs on Vijay TV. A comedy reality show is a variation of reality television shows where the show invites a bunch of comedians and makes them compete in different rounds. The rounds are completely different like saying one of it would involve the participants to form a team and compete and then one would ask the participant to present a stand-up act and it goes on and on. These said rounds also accounts for different points. The points are distributed to the performers by the show’s panel of judges. The participant with the highest number of points altogether wins the show and takes home the title as well as the prize money of the show. Various Tamil comedians were called and asked to compete in various rounds. The show aired on the channel Vijay TV.

The show proved to be a successful venture for the network and the channel was compelled to renew the show for a sprawling eight seasons. This number makes the show as one of the few shows to have this many seasons. Usually, reality shows like these fizzle out after a few seasons. It is very rare for any show to hold its ground stronger for eight continuous seasons.
