Ilaiyaraaja Aayiram is a 2016 Tamil television series that pays tribute to the legendary musician Isaignani Ilaiyaraaja. The musical maestro has made a significant contribution to the Tamil music industry. The show premiered on 13 February 2016 on Star Vijay. It is available on the OTT platform Disney plus Hotstar. He is an Indian musician, composer, arranger, conductor, orchestrator, multi-instrumentalist, lyricist and singer, and is highly popular for his works prominently in Tamil and Telugu films. Ilaiyaraaja has received various awards for his innovative works.
In 2012, he received the highest Indian recognition given to people in the field of performing arts, the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award. In 2010, he was awarded the Padma Bhushan which is the the third-highest civilian honour in India; and was even conferred the Padma Vibhushan in 2018, the second-highest civilian award by the government of India.Â
