Savithri The Trial was inspired by the American novel To Kill A Mocking Bird, written by Harper Lee. The serial featured the life of Savithri, a cabaret dancer in Singapore, and her daughter, for four decades. From the late 60s, Savithri and her daughter were forced to spend their life around courts and lawyers, through no fault of their own.
It is no news that cabaret dancers have faced criticism and disrespect for their whole life. People feel entitled to make assumptions about their life and their emotions and pass comments on the same. In this serial, prejudices manipulate the law and convict an innocent purely because the public is unwilling to accept someone different from them. This criticism was also extended to Savithri’s daughter for being born to a cabaret dancer. A lot of lawyers refused to help them, and when one did, he was subjected to the public’s wrath too. Just like in ‘ To Kill A Mockingbird Click to look into! >> Read More... ’, the one who has supported the innocent is facing a threat from the pretentious victim, and the wrongly accused is facing the public’s condemnation.
