Idhayathai Thirudathey is a Tamil romantic drama broadcast on the Colors Tamil channel. The story revolves around Sahana and Shiva. Dhachaini is the queen of the village. She has a son named Sethupati, who is never sober, and she wants him to be a successor in politics. Sahana is a dancer, god worshipper, and a woman of ideals. Her mother always scolds her while the father always takes her side. Her friends and relatives come to attend her wedding and plan to go to the temple. Sahana’s father is a teacher and their house is not big enough to accommodate everyone at the wedding. Shiva is introduced as going underwater to find the idol of the goddess. Shiva gives the rooms from a hotel under him for free to help Sahana’s dad as he gave him free tuitions to pass the examination. Sahana prays for the wedding to go smoothly. But Shiva behaves rudely to one of Sahana’s friends as she refused to bow before Dhachaini’s poster. Her friends complain to Sahana’s father that he beat them. Later, Shiva comes to Sahana’s home to apologize. Sahana simply cannot bear the sight of this rude and arrogant man. He respects her father a lot.

Sahana’s husband-to-be, Parthasarathy, calls her in the night. He is rich and his mother always criticizes him for marrying a poor girl. Sahana is busy shopping for her wedding, but when returning home she gets roughly pushed by Shiva. She is against taking any favors from Shiva but her father has booked the rooms in his hotel that too for free, without telling her. Shiva wrestles and believes that men do not cook. He hates anything that is not manly. Parthasarathy is one who would cook and he loves Sahana. Shiva does anything for Dhachaini without any questions. Dhachaini believes that Shiva is her true son. Parthasarathy gets beaten by a couple of thugs on his way to Sahana’s house. His mother blames Sahana. Parth also refuses to be consoled by Sahana. She blames Shiva and demands to meet him as she wants to know why Shiva did this. But due to some political war, Shiva and Sahana get married.
