Dilya Ghari Tu Sukhi Raha is about a girl's journey from her parents’ house to her in-law's house. It is a domestic drama featuring the lives of two families who live in the same chawl. Both families are very distinctive from each other, ranging from thinking to behaviour to lifestyles. Vrunda and Prasad live in a crowded chawl of Mumbai in Limbuwadi.

The serial replaced the show Arundhati. It ran for 336 episodes on Zee Marathi. The Grand Premiere of the serial was held in Sahakar Nagar, Wadala, where a live audience witnessed the inaugural episode. Vrunda is an intellectual, righteous and bright girl. She lives with her serviceman father, Baburao, her mother Mangala, her elder sister Chandana, and her younger brother.

On the other side is Kanta Chorge, mother of Prasant Chorge, who is like a don/boss of the chawl. She was constantly threatened by Vrunda and wants to take revenge on her. Vrunda has topped college and aspires to become a successful person. But her dreams are crushed when, due to twists and turns, she is married to Prasant Chorge. Her mother-in-law is a conniving and manipulative lady. She is ready to make Vrunda taste bitterness.

Prasant soon understands Vrunda and falls in love with her. She gets support from her husband, but she is in turmoil as to whether to give wings to her career or to support her household and marriage. This series shows how a married girl copes with both her family, faces challenges, and whether she will ever be accepted and find love in a marital home.
