1. Jeeja Surendran

Jeeja Surendran is a Malayalam movie and serial actress. Jeeja has been a classical dancer since her school days. She was the ‘Kala Tilakam’ during her college days. Jeeja is married to Surendran, who is her eternal support system. They have a grown-up son. After her marriage, Jeeja moved to Ooty with her husband and started working in a company. Later she had to leave her job and relocate to Coimbatore due to health issues. Jeeja’s husband encouraged her to move on to acting. Her first serial was directed by Shyam Sunder. Jeeja was selected after a tough audition. Jeeja moved to a villain track with the serial Chandrodayam. She received many awards for her role in Chandrodayam. Her other notable roles include Talolam, Dream City, Sree Krishna Leela, Kumkuma Poovu, etc. Jeeja won the 2014 Manappuram Minnalai award for the best actress in a negative role for her character in Kumkumapoovu.

 

Jeeja has also participated in the program ‘Rani Maharani’ telecasted by Surya TV channel. Viewers got a chance to see her singing and dancing skills through this program.

Her movies include Persiakkaran, Neerkumilakal, Vyaptham, Kaavyam, Maram Kothi, Maraviyude Manam, Urava, Malayali Mamanu Vanakkam and Romeo. Jeeja in an immensely talented artist and she is still awaiting her big break in movies.

2. Sreelatha Namboothiri

Sreelatha Namboothiri is a veteran South Indian actress, famous for her roles in Malayalam movies and television serials. This multi-talented artist started her career as a playback singer for amateur and professional stage plays. Sreelatha’s debut Malayalam movie was Khadeeja which was released in the year 1967. She was a sought after comedian in the Malayalam film industry and was paired with the famous comedian Adoor Bhasi in many movies. Sreelatha’s real name is Vasantha. Her parents, Balakrisnan Nair and Kamala Amma, were government servants. Sreelatha’s mother was a music teacher who passed on the talent and knowledge to her daughter. Sreelatha has given many stage concerts as well. Her connection with the world of cinema was through an aunt, Kumari Tankam. Kumari Tankam was a well know Malayalam movie artist and a close relative of the famous Travancore sisters. Sreelatha’s husband is the late Parameshwaran Namboothiri, a famous Ayurvedic physician, writer and actor.

3. Rekha Ratheesh

Rekha is a Popular Malayalam T.V Serial Actress. She started her career when she was16. She played in Nirakootukalm, a series directed by Sreevalsan. After this, she played in Manasu and started bagging many roles in the small screen arena. Her parents, Ratheesh and Radha Devi, were also artists, and that's how she got the acting talent. Though no longer there, her parents surely would have been happy with her acting skills. 

Rekha married Yousaf, but sadly the marriage didn’t last long. Later, she married Nirmal Prakash. But Nirmal passed away in 2010. She married Kamal Royand that too didn’t last long. Later, she married Abhilash and has a son Ayaan. Now, she lives in Thiruvananthapuram. 

After taking a break from her acting career, Rekha plunged into it through the serial "Parasparam," and her comeback won her the Best Actress Award for 2014 in the Asianet Television Awards. She portrays the role of Padmavathi in this hit show.

4. Valsala Menon

Having nearly 30 years of acting experience in the Malayalam Movie industry, Valsala Menon is a true mentor and method actress, having acted in over 150 films.

 

Born in 1945 to parents Raman Menon and Devakiyamma, in the Thrissur district, she learned the nuances of classical dance from an early age, and performed on several stages in the presence of several dignitaries. She was crowned Miss Thrissur in 1970, following which she entered the realm of acting. She made her debut through the movie Thiramala in 1953 as a child artist. Thirmala was directed by Vimal Kumar and P.R.S. Pillai, and holds a special place in Malayalam cinema, having the renowned film maker Ramu Kariat working as an Assistant Director, with the cast Kumari Thankam, Sathyan and Thomas Burleigh.

 

Although she had several offers to act in movies, she did not enter the movie scene from the time of her marriage until the time her children had completed their schooling, making her comeback in Kiratham in 1985.

 

Following her re-entry into the movie scene, she acted in several movies of note, including Parinayam (1994) where she played the role of Veliya Athemaru alongside industry legends like Thilakan, Mohini, Manoj K Jayan, and Nedumudi Venu. This got her noticed, following which she acted in some of her most famous roles. She also has acted in serials on the silver screen apart from several advertisements as well.

 

Some of her movies of note include Uppu, Sunil Vayassy, Oridathu, Theertham, Unnikale Oru Kadha Parayam, Nakshathrakoodaram, Sainyam, Vellinakshatram, Achuvinte Amma, Manushyamrugham,  Oru Yathrayil, Avatharam among several others, from 1986 to 2014.

 

She has also acted in the following serials: Jalam, Swaamiye Saranamayappa, Mohakkadal, Velankani Mathavu on Surya TV, Alaundinte Albuthavilakku, Parasparam, on Asianet, and Sree Padmanabham on Amrita TV, apart from a reality TV show on Kairali TV named Nakshathradeepangal.

6. Meera Muralidharan

Meera is familiar to the Malayalam family audience not only as a pretty actress but also as a dancer and an anchor. She comes from Thiruvananthapuram, the capital city of Kerala. Born in 1990, she is a trained classical dancer from a very young age. She was referred to the small screen by her cousin Jayan Cherthala, who is also a serial actor. She debuted in Snehatheeram, in 2011 in a very small role when she was a Plus Two student. She took a break from acting to concentrate on her studies, but continued dreaming of becoming an actress. Later on she took up the character of Geethu in Sudheesh Shankar’s serial Chila Nerangalil Chila Manushyar, as the daughter of the character played by Vijay Menon in Amrita TV. 

She received popularity through her portrayal of Anu in the Popular Tele-Serial Amma directed by Adithyan. After that there was no looking back for this beautiful actress, as she bagged very prominent role in different serials; Indira, Penmanasu, Autograph, Sandhya Vandanam to name a few. She participated in Munch stars, a reality show for small screen artists along with anchoring the curtain raiser. Since a year she is also anchoring the famous cooking show Taste Time in Asianet Channel targeting the housewives with cooking recipes and cooking tips. Currently, she plays the character of Gayathri, the elder sister in the serial Aniyathi in Mazhavil Manorama. 

Meera is now getting ready for her innings in the big screen. She has finished shooting for a movie titled Seconds directed by Aneesh Upasana and starring Jayasurya and Aparna Nair as the leads. She stars along with Vinay Forrt in the movie and it is expected to hit the screens very soon. Meera is a third year Undergraduate student and aims to pursue MSW (Master in Social work) along with her acting career. She has won the prestigious Adoor Bhasi Television award for her performance in the serial industry till now.

7. Praveen Eravankara

Raveendran Nair is known among the Malayalam viewers as Poojappura Ravi, a popular theater artist and comedy actor. He was part of the Kalanilayam Drama Vision, a famous drama Troupe. He had staged in Raktharakshasu, a horror drama which had been the most ever hit of the drama troupe. He entered into the film industry in mid-70’s, in black and white movies. He has surpassed more than 4000 dramas and 800 movies in Malayalam.  He is born to Madhavan Pilla and Bhavaniyamma, as eldest of four children, at Poojappura, Thiruvananthapuram. He realized his passion towards acting, also a way of earning his living during his school days. His performance was for a drama for the All India Radio when he was 12 years old, and his earning was a packet of chocolates. 

He debuted in director Hariharan’s Ambiliammavan, as Saami a full length character which was a very big hit. He acted mainly in comedy roles and also in character roles in most of the movies. He started receiving serious characters in his later years. Some of his notable movies are Nanni Veendum Varika as Mathachan, Mazha Peyyunnu Maddalam Kottunnu as Doctor, Kadathanadan Ambadi, and as a lawyer in Manjadikkuru. He has also done many serials both comedy and serious characters from 1990’s.  He has acted with most of the prominent actors old and new and considers himself to be lucky. 

He is married to Thankamma and the couple has two children, a daughter Lakshmi and a son Hari Kumar and has two grandchildren. He is now settled in Trivandrum and still busy in movies and serials.

11. Sajan Surya

Sajan Surya is a very popular Malayalam serial actor, often  referred to as the Superstar in Malayalam serials.  He has won the Best Actor Award  in the Asianet Television  Awards consecutively two years in 2012 and 2013. His team “Kumkumapovu” are the winners of Munch stars by Asianet in 2013.

Sajan showed his interest in acting since childhood. During his college days Sajan and his close friends started a drama troupe . The troupe had performed on many stages for four years, but were forced to close it due to financial crisis. Then he entered in to mini screen in 2000. Now he has acted  in more than 40 TV serials. Some of his popular serials are Sthree (Asianet),  Innale (Surya TV), Amala (Mazhavil Manorama) etc. Sajan become very popular among Malayali audience with his character Mahesh  in Kumkumapoovu (Asianet). It is very positive role interacting with everyone in the family as husband, brother, son in law, companion etc.

Apart from serials, Sajan has acted in many album songs  early in his career such as Oh Fathima Song from the album Muhabathin Kaalathu, Sree Mayadurga  from Chakkulathukavu devi song,  and Ayyappa devotional song album Saranaveedhi. Sajan has also done a stage show for a song from the album Snehathepatty Onnum Parayaruthu directed by Sravana Sandhya.

In his real life Sajan is a Lower Division Clerk in Registration Department of Kerala government. Sajan is married to Vineeth and the couple has two daughters. They live in Trivandrum.

Sajan Surya was born on 11 October 1976 and hails from Trivandrum, Kerala. He is the son of K. Satheesan Nair and Suryakala Nair. He is married to Vineetha Nair, and they have two daughters named Malavika Nair and Meenakshi Nair. He attended The Oxford School in Trivandrum, Kerala. Sajan is a graduate of the University of Kerala. In 2016, he appeared as Kannan in the TV series Sagaram Sakshi.

12. Kumarakom Raghunath

Kumarakom Raghunath was once known as the superstar of Malayalam Television Industry. In 2014, Atlas Film Critics Award for television programmes awarded him the Best Actor title for playing his role in Penmanasu, a serial telecasted on Surya TV. He began his acting career as an amateur drama artist at the age of 15. By seeing his performance in the drama titled Acharya, the director of the drama, N.N. Pillai insisted him to join in his drama troupe. For the next 18 years, Kumarakom Raghunath was molded into a fine drama artist. Meanwhile, he even formed his own drama troupe named Keli. Later when serials started getting popular on Doordarshan, he began acting in the lead roles in tele serials. His first serial was with the famous director Shaji Yem. He found himself portraying versatile characters in television. Scooter was one such hit serial of his on Doordarshan. He became very popular among the television audience in the 90’s. In fact, he was called the Mammootty (Mega star of Malayalam film industry) of Tele serials. His movies include Mayaponman, Nakshatratarattu and F.I.R. Later, he took a break from acting for about six years. He came back to the Television serial industry in 2011 acting in Ammakili with movie actress Seema. He is also a part of the Serial Amma as Vidyasagar, telecasted on Asianet.

13. Sarath Das

Sarath Das  is a famous TV Serial Actor in Malayalam Television Industry and is well known for his role as Sree Krishnan in the serial Sree Mahabhagavatham. Sarath is the son of late Haridas, a film actor and Saraswathy and hails from Ernakulum. He started his acting career in the movie Swaham in which he acted as a tea-shop owner’s boy and his father Haridas also acted in the movie as the tea-shop owner. After that, he did many challenging roles. His role in Ennu Swantham Janakikutty, Pathram, Madhuranombarakattu was really excellent. But later, he didn’t get that much roles in movies and slowly he moved to small screen and that was his turning point in life.

 

He is a good actor as well as a good Musician. He was trained in playing instruments like Mridangam and is also an excellent singer. He is married to Manju, a distant relative and has 2 children. Sarath started his Mini Screen appearance in the Serial Sree Mahabhagavatham and he played the role of Sreekrishnan. Almost all malayalee like his role as Sree Krishnan and was waiting for his show time .After that his career graph starts to rise. He played many sweet, innocent roles in Serials like “Harichandanam”, "Amma”,”Minnukettu”,”Manasaputhri”etc.

 

Apart from all of these he proved his excellence in the field of dubbing. He got his first opportunity in the movie Nammal directed by Kamal, in which he gave sound for actor Siddharth, son of K.P.A.C Lalitha. Later in 2005 he dubbed for Narain in the movie Achuvinte Amma and got Kerala state film Award for best dubbing Artist. He also anchored in the shows like Rangoli and Zoom-in. He is now working in a serial aired by Mazhavil Manorama. He is a fun loving person and now also every Malayalee women like to see him as Sree Krishnan. Really a talented and gifted person.
