The story starts with two friends- Rajendran and Mahendran. Due to some incidents in the past, they have remained estranged for many years. Their families do not interact with each other even when they are present in the same premises. Rajendran has an elder daughter, Meenu. Mahendran has an elder  son, Aadi. Surprisingly, Aadi and Meenu have loved each other since childhood, and want to marry. They know their families are sworn enemies. They will never accept their marriage. Aadi and Meenu reveal their relationship and try to bring their families closer. Their fathers are furious initially, but Mahendran thinks of reconciling for the sake of Aadi.

Out of spite, Rajendran fixes Meenu’s marriage with his nephew, Amal. Rajendran sends goons to attack Aadi so that he does not create problems at Meenu’s wedding. But Amal escapes and never confesses that it was Rajendran who sent goons after him. It makes Rajendran like him. He changes his mind about Aadi and wants him to marry his daughter. Amal feels rejected, and his plan to acquire Meenu’s wealth goes in vain. He decides to teach Meenu’s family a lesson. Before Meenu and Aadi’s marriage, Amal murders Aadi and makes it look like an accident. He also framed Aadi’s younger brother, Arjun for the accident. Meenu is heartbroken at the demise of Aadi.

As Mahendran had promised Rajendran to make Meenu his daughter-in-law, he decided to make Arjun marry Meenu. Arjun likes Anjali, but for familial love, he obeys his father. Meenu is not happy. She could never marry anyone other than Aadi. But she has to give in to her father’s decision. Amal conspires to break off this marriage as well as he can never see Meenu happy. He creates misunderstandings between them. Anjali instigates their relationship as she loves Arjun. Gradually, Arjun and Meenu start liking each other. Their love has to go through many hardships.
