Kaun Banega Crorepati Season 9 was broadcast on the SONY Entertainment channel in the year 2017. This show is an Indian adaptation of the British show ‘Who Wants to Be a Millionaire’. After the fastest finger first round, the contest who answers correctly and in the shortest amount of time is given the opportunity to play this game. The seat on which they sit is called the hot seat. Mr. Amitabh Bachchan then asks questions. This year the first ten questions of this round are timed and the rest of the questions have unlimited time to answer them. 45 seconds were given for the first five questions and 60 seconds for the next five questions.

This season Anamika Majumdar, an NGO worker won 1 Crore. Her son helped her prepare for this show and used to remain up at night with his mother to help her get through this. In this season the 50-50 lifeline was replaced by the ‘Double Dip’ lifeline. The other lifelines were ‘Phone a Friend’, ‘Audience Poll’, and ‘Plus One lifeline’. In the ‘Phone a Friend’ lifeline, video call was allowed to be made by the contestant to the person of his choice. In the ‘Audience Poll’ lifeline, the audience is allowed to answer the answer with the maximum vote is shown to the contestant. Plus one lifeline enables the contestant to invite on stage any relative or friend who can help him with this question.
