The main story of the show is based on the orthodox customs/practices prevalent in Uttar Pradesh even these days and honour killing (Where a married couple is killed very cruelly If they marry outside their caste).

The next plot revolves about how Bela and Birju get separated in the first but later reunited by their grandfather himself after realising and repenting his wrong doings changed his thoughts against caste discrimination and agreed to provide similar and equal rights and privileges to both the people of upper and lower caste and marry off Bela to Birju.
The show Mitwa came with a very strong message and the performances of the leading and supporting actors were also well appreciated. The show received good reviews from the audiences.
