Freedom is something that is desired and cherished by every living being. When our country India was captured and ruled by the British, there was nothing more wanted or desired other than our freedom. Many people lost their lives in the struggle for independence and the era was filled with chaos, riots, political and economical imbalance. “Kyun Utthe Dil Chhod Aaye” is a drama that is set in the backdrop when India is on the verge of independence. The serial tells the story of three women named Amrit, Vashma, and Radha who are born and brought up in Lahore. When the hope for freedom approaches, these three women dream of achieving their goals and finding love even in the midst of utter chaos which leads them to take drastic measures and try and overcome all the obstacles that they might find in their way. The path to success and love is not easy and how they manage to achieve their goal constitutes the rest of the serial.

Kyun Uthe Dil Chod Aaye is a partition serial based on the 1947 partition between India and Pakistan. In Lahore, it is an imperial rule by the British. Soon it is going to end. Everybody lives with peace and solidarity, whether it is Hindus, Sikhs, or Muslims. There is love everywhere people wish for a better future for their children, and lovers in the show are also ready to give anything up. Amidst all this, hatred and conflict are brewing up. How will this change the turn of events and affects lives forever? forms storyline.

It premiered on 25th January; 2021 on Sony TV at 9 pm from Mondays to Fridays. It went off-air after eight months due to some problems. The show was very famous because of its unique storyline of the period love story. The story starts with Amrit narrating the story as to how the Sahani family and Begh family used to live in Lahore before partition. There was peace and harmony among them. It was the occasion of Basant Panchami on 27th January 1947. No one would have known that it would be their last ‘Basant Panchami’ together. After that, everything would change.

Lala Kishore Sahani, the father of Amrit, is a wealthy merchant who trades spices. He has a friend and neighbor, Dr. Iqbal Begh. Both the families celebrate festivals together irrespective of religion. Amrit has a best friend, Vashma, who knows all her secrets. Amrit had two brothers Bhanu and Uday Sahani. Uday Sahani loves to play hockey and wants to become part of an Indian hockey team. But his father disposes it. Amrit writes stories and publishes them secretly in the newspaper under the pseudonym Ranjhan. Ranveer Raichand, an editor of the newspaper, wants to meet Ranjhan. He every time sent her a letter so that she could reply to them.

With the Sahani family, Lala Kishore’s sister, Mogar, with her daughter Kiran Bala also lives. Mogar became widowed at a young age. Now she wants to take revenge on the Sahani family. So she tries to create a rift in the family. Amrit, Vashma, and Radha all three wish that they can make their dreams true. But their vision is shattered due to partition, where violence takes place everywhere. How will these three women make their dreams come true? forms the plot.
