Well, it is the story of two lovers who meet with tragic consequences in life but yet they are born again to get united! The story plot is of two lovers (Rishi and Tanushree) who fall in love but every time we find that Tanu saves Rishi from death or any tragedy. The episode took off with the narration of childhood love of Rishi and Tanushree when they were out to see a play of ‘Heer –Ranjha.' In the first episode itself, an accident happens to Rishi and Tanu. This is a tale when childhood friends get separated, and they wait for each other for 17 years and fall in love again after they meet. Now, father of Rishi asks him to have just a meeting with Tanu after a gap of so many years, after which the two lovers have many encounters.

Tanu goes back to Mumbai to stay with her uncle after her parents die. What happens later is the story to tell us. Do Rishi and Tanu patch up? Or do another girl come in the life of Rishi? The serial is brought to life by the skillful direction of Mujjamil Desai. After Tannu reaches Mumbai with her cousin, they change their names to Neha and Tanvi and live in disguise. Soon, Rishi enters their lives. Rishi gets engaged to their cousin Tannu but is unknowingly attracted to Neha. Everyone learns that Neha is Tannu, and then Rishi and Tannu get married. Their lies take an unexpected turn when Sandy tries to kill Rishi. While saving Rishi, Tannu gets shot and dies. The serial then leaps 20 years when Tannu is reborn as Tanuja in Amritsar. She lives with Sandy. Tanuja and Sandy have two children named Vidhi and Nidhi. Tanuja comes to Mumbai and feels an unknown connection with the city. After the surgery, the face of Tanuja resembles Tannu. During all this, Rishi decides to move on and marry Malaika. But Raj learns about the reality of Tanuja and sets a mission to unite Tanuja and Rishi. He succeeds in his mission by getting Tanuja married to Rishi. They both start to get close to each other. Due to this, Katyani(the mother of Rishi) provokes Tanuja by accusing her of being bad for Rishi.

Tanuja decides to get a divorce from Rishi. Rishi starts flirting with Netra to get the attention of Tanuja. Tanuja soon realizes the truth and expresses her feelings to Rishi. But things get complicated, and Tanuja leaves Rishi. She later gets to know that she is pregnant. In the serial leaps of 7 years, Tanuja lives with Abhishek and pretends to be married, and Rishi lives with Netra. They both pretend to be in a marriage and raise their daughters. Their daughter caused the union of Rishi and Tanuja. But Netra plots a plan and kills Tanuja. After this incident, Rishi commits suicide. The serial again leaps 25 years, and Rishi and Tanuja are reborn and united.
