Chandrakanta is a fantasy series that is relatively based on the novel of the same name by Devaki Nandan Khatri. But later on, the television series was pulled off air by the channel in year 1996. The producer and director filed a case in the Delhi High Court for the restoration of the show and subsequently, the show was telecasted again on Star Plus from 1998 to 1999 and Sony Entertainment Television from February 23, 2004 to June 28, 2004.

Chandrakanta is a television series about the undying love set against the brawl and rivalry between the Naugarh and Vijaygarh Kingdoms. The Chandrakanta television series received several controversies during the time that it was aired on Doordarshan channel. Besides taking the reinstatement of the show to the court, the grandson of Devaki Nandan Khatri stated that the production has not done justice to the Chandrakanta of Devaki. He also made an accusation that the producers intentionally misrepresented some concepts from his grandfather’s novel, including, the Tilism, Ayyari and Jaado-Tona. Also, the characters and the story of the Chunar kingdom were exaggerated further than what is needed, and the Chandrakanta shows off after a long time in the series.
