Season eight of the blockbuster series How I Met Your Mother (HIMYM) premiered on September 24, 2012 .The season had 24 episodes from Farhampton to Something New. The first episode Farhampton begins with Ted sitting at the Farhampton railway station right after Barney’s and Robin’s marriage ceremony. He recalls how Robin was nervous and considered running off. The season ends with a much-awaited revelation and this keeps the audience glued to the screen through the next season which was promised to be aired with the Mother in the series. Critically, season 8 of HIMYM focused on two storylines: Ted’s loneliness and Robin’s and Barney’s relationship.

In Romeward Bound, these two concepts incline, and there is friction between Ted and Barney. Episodes like Ashtray, Weekend At Barney’s and P.S. I Love You have great plots and interesting leads. Time Travellers is the most rated episode of the series which brings the focus back to TED. It is very striking, especially when Ted and Future Ted meet and their thoughts explode with a unique way of absurdity and creativity. Throughout the series, this one is an episode that remains in your memory more than most of the others. The most viewed episode is P.S.I Love You with more than 10.50 million US viewers watching on TV.

In this episode, Barney reveals an episode of Underneath The Tunes, a music documentary featuring Robin Sparkles. The beautiful couple Lily and Marshall was less noticeable this season, just going with the entire flow of the storyline. Sure, they had some major happenings like Lily’s new job as an art consultant. But apart from very few things, their life was quite steady this season. The major revelation in the season is, of course, the mother in the episode Something New. After eight long years and one ninety-two episodes, future Mrs. Ted was revealed. Cristin Milloti was shown on screen who played the mother in the series.

Many times throughout the season, hints were shown like her feet and her legs, but it was for the first time the face of the mother was revealed in the series. The eighth season got mixed reviews from various critics with Rotten Tomatoes giving a 40% positive review. A negative review was given by Alexander Lowe of We Got This Covered. He called the revelation process of the Mother “Anticlimatic””. He just gave a rating of 5/10.
