Honee Anhonee was a Doordarshan hit classic series. This hit series came in the 90s on Doordarshan. Honee Anhonee was one of its kind; the show was completely based on supernatural and, reincarnation theme. Every episode had a different story based on supernatural, paranormal and reincarnation stories. The anchor of the show used to tell each story throughout the episode with the picturization of it playing in the background. Doordarshan telecasted Honee Anhonee every Thursday night. The stories of each episode were scary and, spine chilling. Not just the story but everything starting from direction to theme, music, characters, sets and, the cinematography was scary enough to make someone’s night sleepless. The stories included; the story of reincarnation, the story of a doctor who treated a dead body, the story of a poll booth, wrong ways, soul talks and, transformations.

The show had been in controversies due to its resemblance to true stories as well. The stories of the show Honee Anhonee gained so much popularity that newspaper columnists started writing columns regarding them. The show showed the world of spirits, the relation between human and, spirits, the transcendental stories showing similarity with a few original cases and the game of life and death among the two sides; living and, dead. Unlike any other show’s happy and, understood ending, Honee Anhonee had an ending which would make its audience think of how everything happened and also leave them with a shiver in spines. There was one story in which a doctor asks for the way to a building and, the man tells him to take a right. But the doctor ends up in a mysterious building treating a dead body.

The doctor gets scared with the events happening around him and, he rushes back. While driving back home, he meets the same person and asks him about his lie. And the man replies “Did I tell you to go to right?” This is where the episodes come to an end. Similarly, every episode had a mysterious story and, mysterious ending. The first episode of the show was based on Reincarnation of a female spirit. This took it to the newspaper and, also started a debated whether reincarnations are stories or truth. Doordarshan has never failed in surprising its audiences, and Honee Anhonee was yet another master stroke. The series was a hit due to its resembling and, scary stories. This is a much-talked about the show today as well and has been voted as one of the best show under the genre of horror. The audience loved watching this supernatural spine-chilling show.
