Manmadhudu 2” is directed by Rahul Ravindran. It is the remake of a French movie I Do alias Rent A Wife. Akkineni Nagarjuna and Kiran produced the film. Chaitan Bharadwaj composed the music. “M Sukumar” cranked the camera and “ Chota K Prasad” edited the film. The film has Nagarjuna, Rakul Preet Singh, “ Jhansi,” Lakshmi Narayan, Devadarshini Chetan, Vennela Kishore and Rao Ramesh in the cast. Keerthy Suresh and Samantha Akkineni play cameo roles.

Sambasiva Rao alias Sam and his family are living in Portugal. Due to a failure in his love, Sam decided not to get married and lost his faith in the relations. However, he respects his family. Due to the heavy pressure given by his mother and sisters to get married, Sam decides to make them believe that family life will not work out for him. So, he books a waitress named Avantika and asks her to act as his girlfriend. When they fix their marriage, Avantika should break the relationship and move out – this is his plan. But, due to a small mistake made by Sam, the entire setup had gone wrong and Sam blinks. How did Sam make things, right? Watch the film in theaters.

Star Performance

Nagarjuna performs well and he looks damn smart. Surely, he is the competitor to his sons! Rakul comes as a glam doll and yet, she performs well too.

The story is not new, but everything depends on the screenplay and the execution. Rahul Ravindran penned the screenplay well and it is good in the first half. The star selection is superb and everyone fits in the role well. Vennela Kishore and Nagarjuna’s chemistry worked out well. The second half moves a bit slow. Yes, the narration was better in the first half. A couple of scenes make the family audience feel embarrassed to watch with kids. Those scenes should have been avoided. The film should have been trimmed in the second half to avoid the boring feel. The music, cinematography and the production values are good.

What’s There?

  • Performance of Nag, Vennela Kishore and Rakul
  • Production and technical values are good
  • Beautiful visuals and music

What’s Not There?

  • Slow narration in the second half
  • Unnecessary scenes that lengthened the film

If the makers had avoided certain unwanted scenes, this romantic entertainer would have definitely been a family entertainer.
