Plot
Leonardo Kaalpo and his father Sayippu run a café in Alappuzha. Kaalpo’s motive was to love a foreigner and settle in an English-speaking country. But, when he meets Thumbi, he falls in love with her. Thumbi has much less confident in her love, due to her abusive father and her mother who is helpless. What happens to their love? Did they make a successful next step in their life? The rest of the story deals with this.
Star Performance
Ranjith Sajeev has improved his performance than his debut. However his romantic expressions didn’t come out well. Neha Naznin has done a decent job. She should concentrate on the dialogue delivery. Siddique is the one who impresses with his performance. Ashiq plays an abusive father and does justice to the given role. Lena gives a matured performance.
Analysis
This is yet another romantic story based on the Shakespeare template. Regular romance and running behind the crush is what we see in the first half of the movie. Most of the scenes look so cinematic, and nothing is seen as natural. A lot of slow-motion scenes test the patience. There were some romantic sequences, which were supposed to touch the audience’s feelings. But, nothing happened as they were not executed well. The songs didn’t gel with the film, though they are good. The cinematography is good, showcasing the beauty of Alappuzha.

Verdict
Though the film has a few performances and good songs, they didn’t gel with the story. Qalb is not a must-watch. If you are free this weekend, you can try this!
