Mazhayathu” is scripted and directed by “ Suveeran,” the National Award winning director. The star cast has Aparna Gopinath, Nikesh Ram, “Manoj K Jayan,” Shanthi Krishna, Santhosh Keezhattoor, Sunil Sugada, Nandhu and Nandana Varma. Gopi Sunder composed the music.

Venugopal and Anitha are the husband and wife and they have a 12-year-old daughter named Sreelakshmi. Venugopal wants to be dominant, but Anitha intends to be an independent woman. The ego clash between the couple not only cracks their relationship but affects their daughter too. When both of them try to reconcile, it brings them more problems. Did they solve their issues? Watch them in theaters!

Star Performance

The debutant, Nikesh Ram and Aparna had done their roles excellently well. Aparna’s expressions have been projected neatly. She had perfectly fit in the role of a lovable mother, who sacrifices for her daughter. Similarly, Nikesh played well while clashing with Aparna and taking care of Nandana. The supporting stars Manoj K Jayan, Shanthi Krishna and Nandhu did their job well.

The director has come with an emotional script. He has beautifully designed the script, how the parents’ ego affects the kids. The film is not preachy but brings out the message neatly. The film deals with how a person is viewed in different ways with just the assumptions. However, the director should have explained certain things in the climax. The technical values are good in the film. Gopi Sunder’s music is excellent.

What’s There?

  • Good story with a message in a non-preachy mode
  • Excellent performance by the lead stars
  • BGM gels well with the script

What’s Not There?

  • Certain explanations were expected from the director, but he didn’t
  • The climax seems to be in a hurry

Mazhayathu is a good film which could be watched with the family. Although it is brought in a non–preachy way, the climax makes us feel that the film is not yet completed. However, it could be watched once!
